When should I check the vehicle’s oil?
Most people ignore checking engine oil. It’s an easy process, but it can cause serious damage if not done properly. For this reason, before any long trip, you should check your engine oil.
If the car is used for business purposes, we recommend checking the oil level on a daily basis.
Nevertheless, a regular oil check by you is approximately every 7,500 km.
Checking the oil in the car is quite an easy process.
We recommend checking the oil level in the morning, when the engine is cold and most of the oil is in the reservoir. The oil reservoir is located at the bottom of the engine and is the reservoir for the engine oil. For the check you will need a clean cloth or paper towels, an oil container and a funnel. We also recommend wearing disposable gloves.
The 4 simple steps to check engine oil:
- Step 1: Park your car on a flat road surface and turn off the engine. Make sure it is cold.
- Step 2: Raise the hood and secure it.
- Step 3: Locate the dipstick: it’s usually a standout color (often yellow, red or white). If you can’t find it, check the car’s manual.
- Step 4: Check the engine oil with a towel, remove the dipstick, clean it and check the higher and lower mark on the end of the dipstick.
How do I locate the engine oil level?
Dip the dipstick back into the oil inside the reservoir, pull it out and check the oil. If your engine oil level is below the lowest mark, you need to add oil. Do not fill to the maximum level.
